We all get excited during the holidays as we look forward to great meals, spending time with family and friends, celebrating and enjoying time off from work. Once Christmas and New Year’s holidays are over, it’s back to the grind which can feel like a huge let down. If you’re suffering from the post-holidays “blahs,” we suggest you take one of our Kauai zipline tours to boost your spirits! We’ve got a few other suggestions that will hopefully help you get back in the groove for the new year.
Change up your routine. Taking up a new hobby or making a change to your routine can make you feel better, as doing something you enjoy helps the dopamine flow in your brain. Whether you read a good book, schedule a weekly lunch or after-work dinner with a friend, or decide to take up cycling or another activity, any changes will help stave off the blah, bored feeling.
Enjoy great food. This doesn’t mean to indulge in pizza and cheeseburgers every day, but the wonderful food we enjoy over Thanksgiving and Christmas is a big factor in how we feel and the let down after it’s all over. Cook a recipe your grandmother handed down, find healthy recipes online that sound delicious. The wonderful aroma and taste of various foods help you retain the happy memories and feelings of the holidays.
Stay connected. Lots of families are scattered across several states; you may only see your sister, brother, cousins or aunts and uncles during the holidays. Family connections are important, and having conversations all year long with family members boosts your emotional happiness. Whether through a telephone call or video chat, schedule time to visit with your closest friends and family on a regular basis.
The beginning of a new year can bring both excitement and leave you feeling a little down. The best thing we can think of to get those “feel good” hormones in gear is to experience a spectacular Kauai zipline tour! Bring along your best friends or family, and kick the new year off with a bang while kicking those blah feelings to the curb.
