First of all, don’t wear the wrong clothing trying to “look your best.” Short shorts, mini skirts, flip flops…what you’re going for here is safety, not style. Because you’ll be in a harness, you’ll be safer and a lot more comfortable wearing closed shoes and either light-weight well-fitting pants or long shorts – and you’ll fit right in with those who’ve ridden dozens of times and know what they’re doing.
Don’t ignore the safety instructions given by professional guides. Even if you’ve ridden 30 different ziplines around the world, every one is different. Don’t assume you know what to do, because you know what happens when you assume! Be safe, and listen carefully to safety instructions and other information provided by guides.
Leave EVERYTHING that’s unnecessary behind. Sure you’ll want your camera or cell phone to take pictures, but leave the fancy jewelry, keys, or other items you don’t absolutely have to have behind. When it comes to taking a zipline tour, simple is best. Make sure your camera or cell phone is secure, tie long hair up in a ponytail or braid, and have the time of your life!
Realize there’s more to it than taking a hundred selfies. Sure you’ll want to take a few pics to share with friends and family on social media – but you don’t want to be so absorbed in yourself that you miss out on all of the beautiful landscape that surrounds you! Lush forests, gorgeous mountains, and depending where you are, sparkling rivers and deep canyons – there are breathtaking views around the world you may only have the opportunity to see once, so don’t make the focus all about you.
