Of course ziplining should be on your “must-do” list when vacationing in Kauai over the cold winter months, but what else is there to excite outdoor enthusiasts? Plenty! Because of Hawaii’s tropical climate and warm temperatures nearly year-round, there’s never a shortage of things to do whether you live in our beautiful state, or are just visiting. According to U.S. News & World Report, there is plenty to keep you busy while vacationing. Here are a few ideas.
Waimea Canyon & Koke’s State Park. If you’re looking to spend about half a day hiking and being amazed by beautiful gardens and natural wonders, this is what many travelers call the “Grand Canyon of the Pacific.” A 3,500 feet, mile wide, 10-mile long gorge, visitors can enjoy hiking, taking photographs of, stopping at lookout stops along the way, and more.
If your dream is to backpack, nothing compares with doing so through the Kalalau Trail on the Na Pali Coast. Beware – you need a good amount of stamina for this one, considering the 11-mile hike encounters rocky inclines, raging streams, and red mud. A challenging hike for those who aren’t afraid of adventure, be sure to bring along lots of water and other previsions. Sturdy hiking boots are a must!
Addicted to golfing? Put Poipu Bay Golf Course on your “must do” list. This 18-hole course in Koloa provides amazing scenery and wildlife, at times patrolled by sea turtles, Hawaiian geese, and monk seals. You’ll also enjoy the on-site grill & bar, 21,000 square foot clubhouse, and locker room. The ancient stone remains of places of worship (heiau’s) in the background also make the course even more spectacular.
If taking a swim in waters that are actually safe is on your list, you won’t want to miss out on Hanalei Bay, a two-mile long crescent-shaped beach many locals and tourists alike enjoy. Wave action makes it ideal for surfing in winter months, and considering hotel accommodations are located right on the shore, you won’t have to go far to enjoy the water.
There are literally too many things to do in Kauai to name them all for those who love a challenge and the great outdoors. While all are exciting, in our opinion there’s nothing quite like ziplining in Kauai to challenge yourself, have a great time with friends or family, and get your adrenalin pumping! Extreme fun at its finest. Be sure to put a visit to Just Live! on your list if you’re vacationing in our gorgeous state over the winter months.
