Most people who choose to vacation in Kauai do so not only because of the beautiful warm climate and beaches, but because of the many outdoor activities for those who enjoy adventure, such as our Kauai zipline tour. If you’re planning a trip to our island in the near future, there are a few things you’ll need to bring along to make your vacation comfortable and relaxing!
Don’t forget these things (some are no-brainers, but we’ll include them anyway):
Sunglasses – Of course you’ll need to bring along the shades so the gorgeous sunshine won’t leave you squinting! Good protection for your eyes is essential.
Sun protection. Whether you rarely burn and need only a sunscreen, or you get red as a lobster and need sunblock, be sure you pack protection! Sun protection that’s waterproof is the best idea, considering you’re likely to be spending at least some time in the water, whether you’re swimming, surfing, snorkeling, or kayaking.
Cool, casual clothing. Shorts and t-shirts are ideal in Kauai, where it’s usually warm and comfortable. Most of Hawaii is casual and laid back, so you won’t need anything too dressy or formal. Also, consider bringing along a light sweater or jacket if you plan to go to the Kalalau Lookout, 4,000 feet above sea level, and considerably cooler than lower elevations!
Don’t forget your camera. You’ll want to take tons of pictures, and while your cell phone is good for this, you may want to bring along an actual camera. No shortage of photo opportunities on our magnificent island!
Mosquito repellent. If you intend to hike through nature, you’ll want to bring along the mosquito repellant. Also consider lightweight long pants if you’re a hiking enthusiast, to protect your lower body from not only mosquitoes, but scrapes and scratches.
Bring along a hat to protect your head from the intense Hawaiian sun! Even if you don’t typically wear them, you can jazz up your style and have fun, while protecting your head and face.
Maps. Yes, that’s plural! While you’ll need a map that makes it possible to navigate the roadways, you’ll probably also enjoy one that indicates where popular tourist attractions are located, so you don’t have to waste a moment’s time figuring out where you’re going.
Footwear. While flip-flops are great for lounging around on the beach or wearing any time you don’t intend to do a lot of walking, we also recommend you bring along sneakers or walking shoes if you plan to hoof it around the shops, restaurants, and resort areas. Hikers, don’t forget your low-cut hiking boots!
Backpack for all your “stuff” and perhaps a few souvenirs. A big beach bag is great for this purpose too, but you’ll want something to tote around your camera, phone, sunscreen, maps, snacks, a bottle of water, and those souvenirs! It wouldn’t be fun to try to juggle all of your things without a beach bag or even a waist pack.
Swimsuit. Enough said about that one, you’ll need it!
It’s all about casual comfort when you come to Kauai! Whether you’re looking forward to hiking, hitting all the tourist areas, snorkeling, shopping, or just lying on the beach, be sure to reserve a few hours of your time for one of our exciting Kauai zipline tours! It’s an adventure that will leave you screaming, laughing, and wanting more. Have a blast vacationing in Kauai!
