Any parent knows that children get bored easily, whether they’re four years old or 14. If you’re vacationing in Kauai this spring you’ll definitely want to check out our zipline adventures, exciting fun for you AND the kids!
It’s hard to imagine anyone could get bored in a place as amazing as Kauai, but children aren’t so excited sometimes about browsing the shops or taking in the sights as adults are. We have some suggestions below that will hopefully be helpful when your family vacations on our piece of paradise!
Kids love to learn new things, especially when it involves animals. The Kauai Kunana Dairy Farm in Kilauea is where you’ll find mama and baby goats, chickens and honeybees along with other farm animals, freshly made goat cheese, farm fruits and vegetables, even lemonade and oatmeal cookies! Children learn about the process of milking a goat, making cheese and lots more.
On the north side of Kauai you’ll find the Princeville playground complete with a huge tree just made for climbing, slides, swings, an enormous field for running off some of that energy, and a rock climbing wall.
Lydgate Park on the east side of Kauai is an awesome beach that’s ideal for snorkeling and swimming as it offers two areas protected by boulders and enclosed for safety. When the kids tire of the water, just go across the street to Kamalani Playground where you’ll find a volcano slide, tons of stairs, balance beams, musical bells for playing tunes, and even swings and other “normal” playground equipment. This one’s the one your kids won’t want to leave!
How about a little mountain tubing? Kauai Backcountry Adventures is recommended for children ages 5 and up, and is a fun adventure that takes you through time as everyone tubes along the waterway where you’ll go through dark tunnels, open ditches and even caves where the ride accelerates as the kids scream with excitement. Knee-deep water and exceptional guides along with the gear (helmet, etc.) you need ensures a super-fun and exciting time for all ages.
Of course you’ll want to take the kids to the beach, and there are plenty to choose from! We already mentioned Lydgate Park, but some other favorites include Hanalei and Anini beaches. Swim, surf, snorkel, or just teach the kids how to paddle or stand up on a surfboard. You’ll want to check out the conditions of any beach you’re planning to go to, the surf, whether there’s a lifeguard, what activities are best suited for a particular beach, etc. before you go. Kauai Explorer is a great resource for this!
Hopefully these ideas will help your kids enjoy your vacation as much as you do! For the most fun you’ll have the entire time you’re in Kauai, be sure to check out our zipline tours and other activities for the family.
