At Just Live!, we know that the popularity of ziplining has soared over the last 20 years. Today, there are ziplines in nearly every state in the U.S. – in fact, more than 200 courses according to ziplinerider.com! In addition to these hundreds of zipline courses, there are even more in South and Central America, Canada, Europe, Asia, Africa, the Caribbean, the list goes on and on.
There is no doubt that ziplining is an activity that’s a bit more adventurous or “outside the box” than your normal fun activities. After all, you’re gliding down a cable some 80 feet or higher off the ground at speeds faster than those allowed in most school zones. Still, there’s a definite thrill, and no doubt it’s an adrenalin-pumping experience. At Just Live!, our Kauai zipline tours are as safe as they come. Although unfortunately accidents have happened at a handful of zipline courses, safety is a top priority – and these stories are extremely rare.
Zipline tours can be found at zoos, camps, resorts, and sometimes just out in the middle of a gorgeous landscape or forest. Whether you have an amazing view of the mountains, jungle, lakes or rivers, it’s an experience everyone should enjoy at least once.
To ensure your safety, here are few tips:
First, make sure the operator of the course is legitimate. Ask lots of questions, whether about how often the course is inspected or the insurance it carries.
Take a look around and make sure there are operators who are available to help. Does the course offer a safety demonstration, and does the safety gear (no safety gear, run in the other direction) look reliable and well-maintained? You can also visually inspect the cables, platforms, etc. for your own peace of mind.
Next, make sure you listen closely to operators who provide safety guidance prior to your ride – and feel free to ask questions. Safety is priority #1!
Forget “the wind in your hair.” A helmet is a must, period.
Have a heart or other health condition that worries you, or are you simply stressed out even thinking about riding a zipline? You may want to skip it and just watch your friends have a good time.
At Just Live!, we have a spotless safety record because we are committed to putting the safety of our customers first. With our eco-based Kauai zipline tours, you can relax and have a great time, focusing on the extreme fun and adventure and putting the worry out of your mind.
